Our name means “hope” because we believe that travel is a powerful force for hope. When we travel, we see different cultures and perspectives, and we learn to appreciate the world around us.

She finally got her chance to share her love of Sedgefield with others when she started Lithemba Tours in 2012. She gained valuable experience as an intern at the Sedgefield Tourism Office under the mentorship of Rose Bilborough.

Current Tours that are available are:
GARDEN ROUTE TOUR: The Garden Route tour is tailored to the client’s wishes. Tourists can experience the tour by either suspension bridges, canopy tours, or Segway drives – all available between the Tsitsikamma and Storms Rivers.
SEDGEFIELD TOUR: The best part about this tour is the opportunity to visit different points of interest such as the Swartvlei River mouth, Sedgefield Mosaic’s, Cloud 9, and even our own local crafters’ market. The best part is that you will also have the chance to buy or create your own souvenir. We meet at our shop in town and then take you up to Smutsville Township where you will have the opportunity to interact with locals as well as visit our very own Lithemba Edu-Care Center, which takes care of 46 children from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday to Friday, and during school holidays during the school year.
JUBILEE CREEK FOREST WALK: Circles in the Forest, the English translation of Dalene Mathee’s ‘Kringe in die bos’, the trail offers two distances, namely a 3km and a 9km walk. Starting from a giant Outeniqua Yellowwood (Podocarpus falcatus) estimated to be approximately 800 years old, both trails head off on one track before cutting off onto a single track which descends to a tree fern shrouded forest stream. From the tree ferns the path gradually climbs a gentle slope to the split for the two distances, the 3km walk to the right and the 9km continuing straight.
LITHEMBA BEADWORK TOUR: In terms of the type of work done by the bead artisans, there are many different designs and some have intricate beadwork that takes many, many hours to complete. While this craft requires a certain amount of mindfulness and a good dose of patience, the women and men of all ages all agree that it is both meditative and extremely rewarding as several of us have experienced it. As part of the Lithemba beadwork group, we can develop skills for young and old unemployed locals in our community. This is so that we and our families can make money, but also learn how to make jewelry from recycled telephone wire and beads.
